About Nolan
As many may be aware, Nolan Keane was recently diagnosed with Brain Cancer. Nolan began feeling numbness in his arm, which prompted many medical tests. As all of his former Missouri State Baseball Bear teammates can attest, Nolan is an amazing guy with a very bright future. However, instead of working day in and day out to learn to hit a change up, Nolan now has a much tougher road ahead of him. But, just as he learned to dominate opposing pitching and become one of Missouri States great hitters, he WILL work just as hard to dominate cancer and become yet another inspirational story to us all!
Nolan is currently receiving chemotherapy and radiation in an attempt to halt and remove the cancer from his body. Mr. and Mrs. Keane are undoubtedly going through an extremely difficult time. But, as his former teammates and current friends, we will stay positive, and trust God to bring Nolan through this difficult time! However, this doesn’t change the fact that this is an extremely costly process, and one most families can’t prepare for! As his former teammates, but more importantly close friends, we want to help Nolan in every way possible. It is our job, and duty to provide his family with as much emotional/financial aid as possible.
On the right hand side of the page, you will see a donation button. We have set up a fundraiser for Nolan, and would IMMENSELY appreciate everybody’s help in this process. Economically it is a very tough time. It’s been hard to pay for gasoline, let alone make donations. However, we ask people to take a moment to picture Nolan, and his family. What we think is tough…isn’t tough.
Please donate money! 100 percent of the donations are going directly to Nolan and his family!
Your donation will help the family prepare for the astronomical medical bills that lay ahead. Please consider a donation….Nolan, his family, and all of his friends and former teammates thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Nolan,
Stay positive, pray constantly, and you will WIN.
Sincerely,
Your Teammates and Friends.

I think of you daily and pray for you more often than that. As a mother I find myself wanting first to thank you for being such a wonderful friend to my son. You have been a great influence to Brayden!!
I think about the times I’ve had my camera out and you always make it worth while….your spirit is contagious and I know you will win this battle. You have all of the Drake’s love and support. We love you very much! Please give your mom a big hug from me.

Nolan–
Sammie, myslef and the rest of the Diamond Girls (old and current) want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Some of my best memories from College were at the ballpark for bears baseball. All of us girls would always laugh when we heard the different nicknames you all had for each other… Beaner is by far the best one!! Keep on fighting, we know you have it in you to beat this.

Hey Nolan!!!
Ever since I remember you have been my brothers best friend, but to me, you have been a brother as well. You have grown not only to be a friend, but also a part of my family! I know I can always count on you to be there for me and even though I know you would never ask anything from me(other than directions back to Jake’s apartment in Iowa City from two UofI guys on bike’s!)I want to be that extra support you need to fight this, and I KNOW you can DO IT! I know this because you have always been a winner and this will not stop you from achieving and striving for your goals! You are in my prayers always and I think about you everyday! So, with that to say. . .Get better so you can come back to Iowa City and party at 808 with Jake and I!
haha Well I Love You Nolan, I will be talking to you SOON! <3

Hey Nolan,
My name is Jeff McCaffrey, and I’m good friends with Adam Pummill. He informed me of your situation, and I wanted to extend my deepest condolences.
About 6 years ago, when I was a freshman at the U.S. Air Force Academy, I suffered a spinal cord injury as a passenger in a car crash. The injury left me paralyzed from the waist down, and it has been that way ever since. I was medically honorably discharged from the Academy, and life as I knew it was over. All I had known, and all I was planning to do was nullified.
Life turned on a dime for me, just as it has for you. Neither of us chose the obstacles and adversity that are presented before us, but we have both chosen to fight it, and have the support of family and friends. What happened is neither fair nor right, but life is not always going to be fair. And just because it is not fair, does not mean that life can not or should not be good. Because it can be, and it should be. But we have to fight for it.
I’m not going to lie to you or patronize you. A long, hard battle awaits - there will be good days and bad, difficulties and challenges that seem insurmountable - but one way or another, you will prevail, regardless of the outcome.
Take nothing for granted. Fight for each and every inch. Turn to family and friends for support. And remember, no matter how dire the situation be, there is always hope - and that in it of itself makes it worth fighting.
God speed.

Nolan:
I am a 14 year breast cancer survivor (a Mizzou grad) and my son Colin pitches for Knox College in Galesburg, IL. Two years ago he broke his humerus in half while pitching. Only a few as you know have done this and come back. It was faith and hope and the love of friends and family that made this so.
It sounds like you have all three! Best wishes. WIN IN 2009.
I hope our donation helps. Wish it could be more.

Nolan - as a Shocker fan, and a huge college baseball fan in general, I wanted to drop by and tell you how much I appreciate your enthusiasm and passion for playing the game.
But the fun battles you were part of with MSU-WSU mean little right now. I hope you knock this one out of the park and get back to your old self soon.
I’ll continue to keep you in my thoughts and check back on your progress.

Dear Nolan,
I had a chance to speak to your father yesterday and it sounds like your treatments are going well. I can only imagine the inconvenience and discomfort you must face at times, but knowing you the way I do, I know that you will stay positive and on the right course.
I also spoke with Coach Guttin today. I enjoyed speaking with him-it had been quite a while. As you know, I’ve always respected him and the athletes he has had in his program.
It sounds like you have alot of friends, family and teammates that are in your corner and that’s a tribute to the person you have always been.
I will be keeping good thoughts for you each day and feel free to e-mail me at anytime. This is the time of year that I’m home most of the time and I would definitely like to be updated on how you are doing.
Sounds like a big storm approaching today, so I hope your travels go safely to Iowa City. Hopefully, the month of January will be better than December has been so far.
Your friend,
Jim Pransky

I have been wanting to write you a message for a while but every time I start to write something I get really upset. So many people in my life have been affected by cancer and I am struggling with the fact that you are having to go through this. I just wanted you to know that YOU WILL BEAT THIS. I think about you every day…and obviously by all these responses you have impacted a lot of people in your life, including mine. Cancer may be stronger than the body, but it will never be stronger the mind. Stay strong mentally, stay positive, and know that we are all here supporting you! I love you!

We are saddened to hear about your news. However, in the face of divirsity YOU have always been a winner, and you have proved that many times over. The Tag line on Facebook is a great idea to ensure people know what you are going through. Keep The Fight Up-as you have always been a winner. Our heart goes out to you and your family, in your time of need. I hope we have a live fundraiser held in Kewanee to ensure more money is to be raised, for your medical expenses.

Hey Nolan~My sister and brother-in-law were both diagnosed with brain tumors…as a result I got busy and had annual fund-raisers to raise $ for the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA)…eventually I ended up on the Board and eventually a V.P. I still remain active as an Associate Board member and continue to raise $ for brain tumor research. There are many options and treatments available today-please feel free to e-mail me or have your family contact me and I’ll guide you and help you find resources. You have a ton of friends and family that love you that are lifting you up in prayer…keep the faith! You can’t just BELIEVE you have to TRUST! with GOD all things are possible! remember..everything happens for a reason…I’m here to help…contact me anytime…God Bless you Jeanne

Hey Nolan,
I just wanted you to know that I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. We all know that you can win this battle, just as you did the hundreds of times we played baseball and basketball together throughout the years. If there is anything me or my family can do to help you or your family out, don’t hesitate to ask.
Tell everyone in the family I send my best.
December 8th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
Nolan…and everybody else,
I spoke with the Chicago Bears organization, and Stewart…you should be getting some stuff in the mail soon!!! Also, they wanted you to know that the entire Bears Organization is thinking about you and on your side. Don’t be too surprised if somebody from the organization writes something on here!!
Specifically this is what the Bears Org. said…
“We are very sorry to hear about Nolan’s situation, and we wish him all the best. We are certainly very fortunate to be able to count him among the Chicago Bears family.
We would be happy to put together a few small Chicago Bears items for him, along with a note from the entire organization wishing him well.”
Nolan, this is just more and more people on your side and in your corner! It’s alllll of our prayers vs cancer.
WE WILL WIN.
December 8th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
Nolan, been keeping up with the Keane/Bialobreski boys school/sports exploits since forever and it’s great to see how all of you have grown & matured (I know that’s being generous to Scott, but it is the holiday season.) I hope the toughness you honed in all the years of athletics will do nothing but help in the battle ahead. You and your family are in our thoughts and we look forward to the day you knock this thing out like a hanging slider. Hope to see you soon. Larry/Rosalie Schnmidt.

Hi Nolan,
I don’t know you, but I am a high school friend of Rachel Wakefield, who must be friends with you because she invited me to join a facebook fundraising group for you. I read your story and wanted to know that I know a little bit about what you are going through. My wife Megan, 22, was recently diagnosed with stage IV unresectable bile duct cancer and will be starting chemotherapy on Monday. The last few weeks since her diagnosis have been probably the hardest of my life - and hers - but the one thing that gives us strength and always keeps our hopes and spirits high is our Lord Jesus Christ. God gives us strength to get through anything that lies ahead of us. I will pray that God will give you and your family the strength to get through this, as well. And as I pray for my wife every single day, I will pray that you will respond well to your treatment and, ultimately, be cured of your cacner. Don’t give up hope. Nothing is impossible for God. He is always with His children and will never leave them.
“God is our refuge and our strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall in to the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. The Lord almighty is with us…. Be still and I know that I am God” Psalm 46:1-3,7,10
Stay strong and good luck!
Peter Eckardt

Nolan,
I’ve known you since 4th grade but never REALLY got to know you personally. But what I can say about you is that we have grown up together and I’ll be the first one to say this, along with everyone else in our class, I consider you to be somewhat like my brother. The class of 03′ are all brothers and sisters. With that said, we are all gonna help fight this with you.
Don’t forget during the tough times to stay focused on yourself and only yourself. Think positive thoughts. You know you can do this. Be DETERMINED and never let anything get you down. I know you are scared. I’m scared for you, but you are a very strong person and we know, YOU KNOW, you will win! Everyone loves you and is praying for you! I will think of you daily and pray for your recovery!!!
Hope to see you soon and don’t forget to smile!
Much love,
Laura

Good thing you have Kal & Kellan to hang out with to take your mind off things every once in a while! I’m sure singing and dancing to the Wiggles does the trick each time.

Hey buddy!
We think about you everyday and hope you are doing well. You have a lot of family and friends who love you very much and are praying for you. Stay strong and there’s no doubt in my mind you’ll kick this and be greeting me with the classic saying you always say when you see me in no time. (!@$#%@#$%#$) I’m sure you can figure that one out, I’ll keep it G rated on here though.

Nolan,
I remember seeing you at your practices when I was your student AT and the determination and focus you showed there will be most helpful on this road to recovery. You are a strong guy and will conquer this. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

What is left to say after all the wondeful things that have been said about you on this page already?! You know we are praying for you, we think about you every single day, and no one could ever love you more (except maybe Didan & Poo-Owie, but that’s their job!!) The best thing to come out of all of this is that you are finally near us! LOVE YOU!!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time
God didn’t promise days without pain,
laughter without sorrow,sun without
rain, but He did promise strength for
the day, comfort for the tears, and
light for the way.
“If god brings you to it, he will help you get through it”
